Panchchuli


Panchchuli Glacier is a Himalayan glacier, situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. It is located in the easternmost part of Kumaun. It is in the west and east of five peaks of Panchchuli on the Johar Valley and Darma valley. Uttari Balati glacier is situated north to it.Panchachuli group of glaciers includes:

• Meola
• Sona
• Uttari Balati
• Dakshini Balati

The popular trek is through the Darma Valley to East Facing glacier. Pithoragarh-Dharchula-Tawaghat-Sobla-Dar-Sela-Bailing-Son-Duktu. The glacier is the source of the Yuli River.

Day 01    kathgodam-Dharchula
Evevning drive to Kathgodam in the morning reach Kathgodam and after fresh drive to Dharchula. Lunch enroute. Arrival Dharchula by evening. On arrival check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02   Dharchula (Rest Day)
After breakfast drive to Narayan Swami Ashram And Nepal. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 03    Dharchula Dar - Bongling (2110 Mts) (35 kms via Road, 5 kms by Trek)
Dar is the last road head in Darma Valley for this trek. From Dar its a 2 hour walk to reach the campsite of Bongling. Overnight stay in camp.

Day 04    Bongling -Sela (2440 Mts) (7 kms by Trek)
Its a easy walk with short descents and climbs. The mule track from Bongling to Sela goes through hill sides of green pastoral land, with Dhauli Ganga flowing below cutting through the gorges. Overnight stay in Camp.

Day 05   Sela-Nagling -Baaling (3105 Mts) (10 kms by Trek)
The trail to Baaling goes along hill sides and is a rocky terrain for the first 3 kilometeres. Baaling is a picturesque mostly uninhabited settlement of the Darma Valley. Overnight stay in Camp

Day 06    Baaling - Duktu/Dantu -Son (3680 Mts) (7 kms by Trek)
Duktu and Dantu are two adjacent villages which are the last centres of human settlement in Darma valley. The villages offer a panaromic views of the Panch Chulli . Overnight stay in Camp.

. Day 07    Duktu/Dantu/Son - Panchachuli Base Camp - Duktu/Dantu {10 kms by Trek}
The walk to the Base camp is along a narrow trail through the vast expanse of the Dantu Bugyals. With the forest cover to reach the glacier, on one side and the Meola river bed on the other its as steep descend to Panchachuli Base Camp. The trek to Panchachuli Base Camp itself is very picturesque with the bugyals stretching far and wide on one side and the forests of birch and conifer on the other. Overnight stay in Camp.

Day 8    Duktu/Dantu - Nagling (2743 mts./11 kms.)
We start on return trek today. The trail from Duktu to Nagling is a gradual descent and the days' walk.

Day 9    Nagling / Dar / Dharchula(15k.m trek,35K.m By Drive)
In the morning we will trek down to Dar. The trek is Long trek but easy to downwards. from Dar we will get a jeep for Dharchula.

Day 10    Dharchula – Kathgodam
In the morning drive to Kathgodam. and overnight train to Delhi.
